High jumper Andra Manson talks basketball

In the latest in our series focusing on track and field athletes who have a background in US sports spikesmag.com caught up with US indoor high jump champion Andra Manson.

One of the most interesting facts we discovered about Andra Manson was how the Texan once jumped over a man to score a slam dunk in a high school basketball game. 'Wow!' we thought, 'Manson is a man worth catching up with'. As the current US Indoor champion and winner of the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham the 2.33 high jumper has had a great winter season. But what we really wanted to know about the man from the town of Brenham – famous for its Blue Bell Ice Cream – was how his background in basketball aided his high jump career... oh, and all about the slam dunk.
