With the departure of high jumper Dusty Jonas, the Husker track and field team faces the daunting task of replacing an athlete who won a national championship and competed in the Olympics.
Sophomores Paul Hamilton and Brandon Sheppard are ready to take on that challenge.
“We’re looking forward to stepping up, we’ve been pushing each other all fall,” Hamilton said.
Jonas, an eight-time All-American, holds the school record for both indoor and outdoor high jumps and won the NCAA indoor championship as well the Big 12 outdoor championship. Jonas competed in Beijing, China in August, where he placed 26th in the qualifying round.
