Final NCAA Outdoor Rankings 6/18

1. (1) Derek Drouin (Indiana, So.) Derek proved to everyone that he is the best college high jumper in the county.  He went undefeated this outdoor season and only lost  one meet indoors.  He won both NCAA indoor and outdoor champs and also his conference titles, indoors and out.  He has 2 years left for Indiana and will be tough to beat these upcoming years.  Outdoor Meets (2.22m, 1st, 2.21m, 1st, 2.22m, 1st, 2.23m, 1st, 2.21m, 1st Big 10 Champs, 2.26m, 1st NCAA Champs) Indoor Meets (2.24m, 1st, 2.17m, 1st, 2.07m In Hep, 2.10m, 6th, 2.26m, 1st Big Ten Champs, 2.28m, 1st place NCAA Champs)

2. (5) Manjulla Wijesekara (Southern California, Sr.)  Manjula did not jump in many meets this year for USC only 3!  He won 2 and got 2nd at the NCAA Champs.  He had an outstanding career at USC.  He will continue jumping post college and will be trying to make his 2nd Olympic team for native country Sri Lanka in 2012.  Outdoor Meets (2.15m, 1st, 2.20m, 1st PAC-10 Champs, 2.23m, 2nd NCAA Champs)

3. (3) Paul Hamilton (Nebraska, Jr.)  Paul stepped it up again when it counted at the Big 12 Champs by winning with 2.18m (7-1.75).  Outdoor Meets (2.20, 3rd, 2.15m, 1st, 2.15m. 6th, 2.16m, 2nd, 2.18m, 1st Big 12 Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.14m, 1st, 2.14m, 1st, 2.14m, 2nd, 2.09m, 2nd, 2.22m, 1st, 2.10m, 6th, 2.26m, 1st Big 12 Champs, 2.25m, 3rd place NCAA Champs)

4. (2) Ricky Robertson (Mississippi, Fr.)  Ricky had an unreal freshman year.  He won almost every meet he jumped in outdoor.  As a freshman he had the highest jump in the USA College ranks with 2.28m (7-5.75).  He also placed 5th at the NCAA outdoor champs with 2.20m (7-2.5).  He has a bright future ahead of him.  Outdoor Meets (2.20m, 1st, 2.22m, 1st, 2.28m, 1st, 2.15m, 1st, 2.19m, 1st, 2.22m, 1st, 2.20m, 5th NCAA Champs) Indoor Meets (2.14m, 6th, 2.16m, 1st, 2.24m, 1st SEC Champs, 2.25m NCAA Champs)

5. (3) Erik Kynard (Kansas State, Fr.)  Erik was another impact freshman this year.  With a person best jump of 2.25m (7-4.5) he had the 3rd highest jump in the college ranks for 2010.  He ended up finishing 6th at the NCAA champs meet with a 2.17m (7-1.5) jump.  Outdoor Meets (2.25m, 1st, 2.19m, 2nd, 2.24m, 1st, 2.14m, 2nd Big 12 Champs, 2.17m, 6th NCAA Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.19m, 1st. 2.19m, 1st, 2.20m, 1st, 2.23m, 2nd Big 12 Champs, 2.14m, 11th place NCAA's)

6. 7. (19) Ryan Fritz (Penn State, Sr.) Ryan stepped it up big time at the NCAA Champs.  He placed 4th with a 2.20m (7-2.5) jump.  He had a great career for Penn State.  Outdoor meets (2.10m, 8th, 2.16m, 1st, 2.08m, 5th, 2.07m, 4th, 2.20m, 1st, 2.12m, 3rd Big 10 Champs, 2.20m, 4th NCAA Champs) Indoor Meets (2.14m, 1st, 2.04m, 2nd, 2.14m, 2nd)

8. (8) Clint Silcock (Utah State, Sr.) Clint had the 2nd highest jump 2.26m (7-5) going into the NCAA Champs.  He managed to jump 2.17m (7-1.5) to place 9th.  Outdoor Meets (2.14m, 1st, 2.17m, 1st, 2.11m, 4th, 2.26m, 1st, 2.18, 2nd, 2.16m, 1st, 2.15m, 1st WAC Champs) Indoor Meets (2.06m, 1st, 2.14m, 2nd, 2.10m, 1st, 2.14m, 1st, 2.10m, 1st, 2.15m, 1st, 2.16m, 1st)

9. (6) Major Clay (Indiana State, Jr.) Major was very consistent this year Outdoor Meets (2.20m, 1st, 2.21m, 2nd, 2.19m, 3rd, 2.10m, 1st, 2.19m, 1st MVC Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.19m, 1st, 2.16m, 1st, 2.18m, 2nd, NH, 2.17m, 3rd, 2.21m, 7-3, 2.20m, 1st, 2.17m, 1st MVC Champs, 2.14m, 12 place NCAA indoors)

10. (20) Darrell Roddick (Texas Tech)  Darrell too stepped it up at the NCAA Champs.  He jumped 2.17m (7-1.5) to place 7th at the NCAA Champs.  His high jumping was limited but he jumped big when it counted.  Outdoor Meets (2.15, 1st, 2.19m, 2nd, 2.08m, 3rd, 2.12m, 4th Big 12 Champs, 2.17m, 7th NCAA Champs)

11. 12.  (13) Edgar Rivera-Morales (Arizona, Fr.)  Edgar jumped 2.10m (6-10.75) to place 18th at the NCAA outdoor champs.  He has 3 more seasons for the wildcats along with his teamate Nick Ross.  Outdoor Meets (2.20m, 2nd, 2.14m, 3rd, 2.18m, 3rd, 2.15m, 2nd, 2.14m, 5th PAC-10 Champs, 2.10m, 18th NCAA Champs)  Indoors meets (2.15m, 1st, 2.20m, 1st, 2.19m, 1st, 2.15m, 2nd, 2.23m, 1st, MPSF Champs, 2.14m, 9th place NCAA indoors)

13. (7) Brede Ellingsen (Arkansas) Brede had a great year leading up the to West Regional Champs where he failed to qualify for the D1 National meet.  He placed 5th indoors at NCAAs and had some glimses of success through the year.  Outdoor Meets (2.19m, 1st, 2.16m, 3rd, 2.17m, 2nd SEC Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.14m, 2nd, 2.10m, 1st, 2.14m, 2nd, 2.10m, 8th, 2.20m, 4th SEC Champs, 2.19m, 5th place NCAA Champs)

14. (15) Geoffery Davis (Purdue) Geoffery too had a great breakout season for the Boilermakers.  He placed 12th at the NCAA outdoor champs with a 2.14m (7-0.25).  He will have 3 remaining seasons in a college uniform.  Outdoor Meets (2.10m, 2nd, 2.15m, 2nd, 2.22m, 1st, 2.07m, 3rd, 2.12m, 2nd Big 10 Champs, 2.14m, 12th NCAA Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.10m, 2nd, 2.14m, 2nd, 2.18m, 1st, 2.19m, 1st, 2.17m, 2nd, 2.20m, 2nd, 2.14m, 4th Big Ten, 2.14m, 13th, NCAA Champs)

15. (8) Trent Arrivey (Washington State, Sr.)  Trent had some glimses of making it big but could not quite get it done at the big NCAA meet.  He still had a wonderful career at Washington State University.  He posted a 2.25m (7-4.5) personal best jump outdoors and 2.24m (7-4.25) personal best indoors.  He jumped 2.10m (6-10.75) to place 20th at the NCAA outdoor champs.  Outdoor Meets (2.16m, 3rd, 2.15m, 7th, 2.15m, 1st, 2.17m, 2nd PAC-10 Champs, 2.10m, 20th NCAA Champs)  Indoor Meets (2.24m, 1st, 2.15m, 1st, 2.10m, 4th, 2.17m, 3rd MPSF Champs, 2.14m, 13th, NCAA Champs).

16. (16) Matt Fisher (Minnesota, Sr.) Matt jumped failed to make a height at the NCAA Champs.  He had a great career at Minnesota jumping personal best of 2.25m (7-4.5) Outdoors and 2.21m (7-3) indoors.  Outdoor Meets (2.06m, 1st, 2.19m, 4th, 2.05m, 2nd, 2.12m, 4th Big 10 Champs, NH NCAA Champs) Indoor Meets (2.10m, 1st, 2.10m, 1st, 2.19m, 2.19m, 1st, 2.10m, 1st, 2.04m, 3rd, 2.20m, 2nd Big Ten Champs, 2.14m, 9th NCAA indoors)

17. (17) Tone Belt (Louisville, Sr.) Tone failed to qualify for the NCAA Champs.  He did placed 6th indoors though.  Outdoor Meets (2.17m, 1st, 2.08m, 5th, 2.13m, 2nd)  Indoor meets (NH, 2.14m, 1st, 2.19m, 1st, 2.14m, 4th, 2.06m, 3rd Big East Champs, 2.11m, 2nd, 2.19m, 6th NCAA Champs)

18. (NR) Jordan Bishop (Oregon State, Fr.)  Jordan only competed in a few meets this year but jumped well at the biggest one.  He jumped a personal best 2.17m (7-1.5) to place 10th at the NCAA Champs.  He also placed 7th at the PAC-10 Champs with a 2.09m (6-10.25) jump.

19.  (14) Jaques Watson (Coastal Carolina, Jr.) Jacques jumped a great personal best early in the year but failed to qualify for the NCAA Champs.  Outdoor Meets (2.15m, 1st, 2.10m, 2nd, 2.25m, 3rd, 2.11m, 1st, NH, 2.06m, DNQ)  Indoor Meets (2.14m, 1st, 2.18m, 2nd, 2.09m, 1st)

20. (18) Obum Gwacham (Oregon State, Fr.) Obum failed to qualify for the NCAA champs.  He finished the season with a new personal best jump of 2.18m (7-1.75).  Outdoor meets (2.18m, 1st, 2.13m, 1st, 2.17m, 4th PAC-10 Champs)
